Cute little animals are under the misinformed impression that looking cuter and fluffier will make you want to touch them less.

February 27, 2016 – Hooded Parrot, Hooded Parakeet, Black-hooded Parrot or Parakeet, Antbed Parrot or Parakeet, or Anthill Parrot or Parakeet (Psephotellus dissimilis)
These parrots are found in savanna woodlands and grasslands of northern Australia. They eat mostly grass seeds, berries, and other fruits, usually foraging on the ground. During the breeding season they spend much of their time in pairs or small flocks, joining large flocks of over 100 birds at other times of the year. Pairs nest in terrestrial termite mounds, digging long tunnels to the center where temperatures are stable. A particular species of moth (Trisyntopa neossophila) lays its eggs in the nests, timing it so that they will hatch along with the parrot chicks. The moth larvae eat waste in the nests, helping to keep them clean, and build their cocoons after the chicks have fledged.

Reminding everyone that I help run a really cute and cool bird care discord and if you’d like to join our little community it’s very fulfilling and full of love ❤
It leans a little parrot-centric but I would love to include a lot more other pet bird species, esp those more suited to pet-status such as chickens, pigeons, finches, etc!!
18+, birds not required ❤
