Bald eagle skull. Property of UTK, with permit.
It’s the size of my hand..
Such a beautiful bird. I’m happy I get to work with the bones of such elegant creatures!

Trying to stick my toes outside my comfort zone with this one a little…
Now, I know red winged blackbirds are about the most common bird in the US, but nothing makes me quite as happy as seeing (and hearing) them. While in the US, we took a short road trip and saw some friends in eastern Washington. Right outside their house is a Marsh just full of these beautiful birds, and I found them absolutely inspiring. This was my attempt to capture the moment.

It’s always a challenge to draw faster, simpler, without losing detail and “style.” I’m not there yet but this is a step in that direction.

Couldn’t decide if I wanted to draw a raptor or a rooster, so here’s a quick sketch that literally reflects my URL. Bald eagle X White Leghorn rooster done using reference photos from the amazing photographer Joel Sartore, and my own pictures of my late boy, Induna. I always did think he looked like a raptor from his good angles.
Drawing commisions are open! More info here, and here is my ko-fi as well. Thanks for lookin’!
