bonemonger:

Carrion Crows (Corvus corone) are normally jet black, whereas this individual has what is called Leucism, which is caused by a lack in the development of the pigment Melanin.

Leucistic animals differ greatly from each other, even if they are of the same species, as some can have a greater lack of pigment and be pure white, but still retain normal skin and eye colour, and so then are not Albino, or they could have a solitary patch of fur or a feather that is white.

This bird was photographed by me when I was on holiday in Sheffield, in north England in 2011.

Original watercolor painting of a Hornbill Skull

did you know that this bird is endangered? They are hunted for the horn on their head. The females will not leave the nest with their chick. They are 100% dependent on the male for food. So when they hunt them down and kill the male, often times the entire family will die 😦

And my sweet little vinegaroon, Vinny is the best model I swear lmao. I have never loved an arachnid so much!

books-and-whatever:

My two morons. They’re different species and their species are native to different continents but that doesn’t stand in the way of true (one-sided) love. Bailey follows Loki around, preening her, and in return Loki hisses at her and ignores her. Best girlfriend ever.
