why don’t we ever see swallows portrayed as kindly villagers?
they:
live in warm barns
build very cozy cup nests
look like this:
give them what they deserve!! swallows are kind fellows with cozy homes that probably smell like the inside of a michael’s craft store

despite having very similar distinct body shape & behavior, swifts and swallows are only very distantly related. the two families are an example of convergent evolution – when two unrelated organisms evolve the same traits for the same purpose. despite looking very much like swallows, swifts are actually closely related to hummingbirds.

the barn swallow is a small bird native to every continent except for australia and antartica. barn swallows are named for their tendency to nest in abandoned or open human structures like barns.
