the tamaulipas crow is found in a relatively small range of northeastern mexico and parts of southern texas. this medium-sized crow is easily distinguishable from most other crows by their plumage; while it’s common for crows to have somewhat iridescent feathers, the tamaulipas crow has noticeable purple & blue coloration in the right light.

the purple martin is a member of the swallow family native to north america. male purple martins have iridescent purple plumage. purple martins typically live in communities found in cliff faces and other nesting cavities. in parts of their range where there are none of these resources naturally, they are dependent on human-made nesting sites.

turkeys are often regarded as dull, but that definitely isn’t the case with the ocellated turkey. these birds are native to a small range in mexico and south america. they are smaller than north american wild turkeys, but they have much more vibrant plumage. both males and females have iridescent colorful plumage, though females can be slightly more brown.
