todays bird is: cooper’s hawk!
I’m the hawk person from the last submission, forgot to attach this pic where she moved from the nest to investigate the camera,

I spotted this birb at a park last April, sitting on a nest of eggs (which unfortunately were obscured by the branches in this picture). I did some research, and think she may be a red-shouldered hawk!

– she is BEAUTIFUL!

Today’s bird: this red-tailed hawk!

a melanistic cooper’s hawk, spotted in texas. melanistic animals result from an overproduction of melanin, a dark pigment – essentially, the reverse of albinism.

a photographer caught this shot of what appears to be a red-winged blackbird riding on a red-tailed hawk. experts believe the bird was actually driving the hawk away from its territory.

spunky the red-tailed hawk is a unique member of a flock of bald eagles. researchers aren’t completely sure how he ended up with the flock, but he appears to have imprinted on the eagles, and the eagles have accepted him as one of them. spunky shows some hawk behavior, but has also learned eagle hunting and social behaviors.
