funnily enough i don’t think the nodules even have a purpose. it’s just how they are. since both the male and female have them it doesn’t seem like a mate-attracting thing, but there hasn’t really been much research on the ocellated turkey, so there could be something going on we don’t know yet!

pigeons and doves are the same thing, yeah! individual species may be called “pigeon” or “dove” but even scientists haven’t really found anything that differentiates the two, it’s kind of an at-random naming

Kind of a weird question, but I figured you might be able to help. I’ve been looking for a certain bird breed to base a character design on– it needs to be specifically a blue and yellow bird. Except when I google it, I only see blue-and-gold macaws and one or two other bird species. Do you know of any pretty birds with this coloring or there are really just very few birbs with it?
