Best friends

Hey! This is actually super dangerous for your beardie! Bearded dragons should never be within paw’s reach of a cat- even the friendliest, sweetest cat in the world can be deadly to them. The bacteria under their claws and in their mouths is often fatal to lizards, and so even an inquisitive pat can lead to astronomical vet bills! Cats are also extremely adept at killing reptiles; in the big kittycam study, reptiles were the number one prey of roaming felines. I’ve got a lot of information in my cats and reptiles tag if you’d like more information and in-depth sources.

putting this here because it’s really important. please do not let your cats and reptiles interact!

Birds too!

the tamaulipas crow is found in a relatively small range of northeastern mexico and parts of southern texas. this medium-sized crow is easily distinguishable from most other crows by their plumage; while it’s common for crows to have somewhat iridescent feathers, the tamaulipas crow has noticeable purple & blue coloration in the right light.

Humans have found a way to kill the world’s largest living organism

typhlonectes:

Now, a new study
claims that mankind is also responsible for the slow decline of the
world’s largest living organism that’s still here, a massive aspen tree
network located in Utah called Pando.

Pando is an incredibly special organism,
but you’d never know it by looking. The tens of thousands of tree
clones that make up Pando are all linked by their roots, and it has
persisted for an estimated 80,000 years. It’s seen the best and worst
that planet Earth has to offer, but humans have found a way to slowly
kill it off without even realizing it.

You might assume that climate change is responsible for Pando’s decline
but that’s not the full story. Yes, if we don’t get global warming under
control it’s going to be very hard for all kinds of plants and animals
to sustain themselves, but Pando’s more immediate threat comes from mule
deer
