Hey birblr, today was Jax Jaxon’s 18th birthday! He can now legally smoke and write his own absence excuses at school, lol.
I was 17 when I got him, so it’s weird that he’s not older than I was. Additionally, this also means I could legitimately have a high school senior for a child.
But this gentle fellow is the best old cockatiel a girl could ask for. Lots of love to you, good bird. ❤️❤️❤️

the red-legged seriema is native to south america. once believed to be related to cranes due to their disproportionately long legs, they are actually closer to falcons, parrots, and the now-extinct terror birds. they are occasionally used as guard birds for poultry. they kill prey such as snakes by picking them up and throwing them repeatedly against the ground.

I know many of you out there are feeling a bit down. Have a crow to Wouldn’t it be Nice by the Beach Boys to lift your mood.

He stops and looks both ways?!?

You wanna know what makes this better?

Crows normally walk. This one seems to have both legs working, so he’s not hopping out of necessity, he’s doing it for fun. Corvids can sometimes be seen doing things like this for no evident reason other than enjoyment.

New Crow and Raven paintings for my upcoming show in Lake Placid at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. In addition to my curated group show ,I will be showing my corvid watercolors in the lobby of the theatre just a few steps away. The Elisa Monte dance company will be performing an original dance inspired by my birds accompanied by the Michael Brubeck Trio the same night as our opening reception. What a night!
