the king parrot is a brightly colored parrot native to australia. males are red with green wings and tail, and females are predominantly green with some red. king parrots live in flocks and forage for fruits and seeds in trees and on the ground. though they are popular pets in australia, they are not commonly kept in the rest of the world.

Lil baby (Annas?) Hummingbirds and their nest which was found on the ground. Luckily whoever found them knew to bring them to the wildlife rehab center that I volunteer at, and I got the amazing pleasure of hand feeding these cute little buggers!

a group of yellow-headed blackbirds lines telephone wires. blackbirds tend to be territorial during mating season, but otherwise very social; some blackbird flocks have been recorded with over a million birds.

The amazing Seriema is related to the extinct terror birds (Phorusrhacids) and has therefore ancestors dating back up to 66 million years!!

the black-legged seriema is one of two living members of the seriema family (the other being the red-legged seriema). both are native to south america, but the black-legged species is more arboreal and spends more time exploring in the trees. seriemas are omnivorous, and mainly prey on small rodents, birds, and reptiles. they have a large curved claw that is used both to climb trees and cut prey.
